Wall Mile 46

  • Description

Building inscription (RIB 1844) from Holmhead recording work by the Civitas Dumnoniorum. It illustrates both the involvement of civilians in the construction (probably repair) of the Wall and re-use of Roman material in later buildings (this is supposedly the second modern building it has adorned). Handbook p.283.
