Description
Building inscription from Milecastle 38 (Hotbank). This is RIB 1638, which reads Imp(eratori) Caes(aris) Traian(i) / Hadrian(i) Aug(usti) / Leg(io) II Aug(usta) / A(ulo) Platorio Nepote leg(ato) pr(o) pr(aetore), or 'This work of the Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus, (was built by) the Second Legion Augusta under Aulus Platorius Nepos, propraetorian legate.' Now in the Great North Museum. -
