Wall Mile 80: Bowness-on-Solway (Maia)

  • Description

Almost the only visible remain from the Roman fort was an altar built into the wall of this barn at Bowness Farm, which lies on the south side of the road at the eastern edge of the fort. But it has been replaced by a replica and we don’t know where the original is- possibly in the Visitor Centre, which is owned by the same group that owns the farm.
