Wall Mile 80: Bowness-on-Solway (Maia)

  • Description

Map on an information board in Bowness showing the area covered by Maia Roman fort. There is nothing to see but excavations have revealed various features, such as the sites of the east and west gates. The fact that the road passes through them suggests that they were still in evidence when the road came into being.
