    Inscribed milestone from the Military Way near Milecastle 42 (Cawfields). This is RIB 2306 and it is now on display in Chesters museum. The inscripion reads Imp(eratori) Caes(ari) M(arco) Aurel(io) / Seuer(o) Alexandro / Pi(o) Fel(ici) Aug(usto) p(ontifico) m(aximo) tr(ibuniciae) p(otestatis) II / co(n)s(uli) p(atri) p(atriae) cur(ante) Cl(audio) Xenophon/te leg(ato) Aug(usti) pr(o) pr/aet(ore) m(ilia) p(assuum) XVIII or 'For Emperor Caesar Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander Pius Felix Augustus, pontifex maximus, in the second year of tribunician power, consul, father of his country, under the command of the governor Claudius Xenophon, 18 miles'.
