Scotch Buildings , Hindpool - Early 20th century

  • Description

Looking north west into the northern corner of the tenements (built 1872-1875). In the foreground two boys attend a dog while a dozen children watch. Most of the boys have caps and the girls wear wide hats. Several children are barefoot. A girl and perambulator are on the right. The washing is out in spite of smoking chimneys. The communal midden is in the background.
