Ramsden Dock Station, Barrow Island, Barrow-in-Furness

  • Description

Early twentieth century. Looking north-east, possibly from a boat at the edge of Barrow Island, close to Ramsden Dock Station. A Furness Railway 4-4-0 tender locomotive stands in front of the signal box at the head of three or more compartment coaches, the first with two four-wheel bogies and the next two six-wheelers. The driver has dismounted and looks at the camera while his fireman does the same from the footplate. To the left in the rear are the Ramsden Dock dockside elevators and warehouses.
