    Class……………………………Fiji-class Cruiser Builder………………………..Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd, High Walker Yard number……………….12 Laid down..………………….8 Feb 1938 Launched….…………………18 Jul 1939 Completed.………………….23 Sept 1940 Propulsion.…………………..4 shafts : 4 sets of Parsons SR geared steam turbines manufactured by Parsons Marine Steam Turbine Co Ltd, Wallsend : Steam supplied by 4 Admiralty 3-drun oil fired boilers Speed..…………………………33 knots Range…………………………..5850 / 2180 nm at 16 / 30 knots History 7/09/1941: Suffered bow damage in action off Norwegian coast, mine or collision Returned to the Tyne for repair & refit 12/08/1942: Torpedoed by Italian submarine AXUM, damaged & returned to Gibraltar 1943: Repaired in the USA & returned to service 1954: Sold to the Indian Government for £300,000 and to be refitted with equipment to bring the vessel up to current standards of an RN cruiser of this Class. 1957:Transferred to Indian Navy and renamed INS MYSORE 1959: Involved in collision with HM Destroyer HOGUE in Indian Ocean during Exercise JET59. (HMS HOGUE sustained major structural damage and on survey was found beyond economical repair.) 20 Aug 1985: Decommissioned. 1986: Broken up
