    "Morpeth 16 1/2 Miles" The milestone is located by the juction of Albion Road (A193) and Preston Road (A192) in North Shields. It was erected in the 19th century by the Shields & Morpeth & Branches Turnpike Trust. The milestone is embedded in the walls of Christ Church. The walls and gate piers of Christ Church are Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
