Hindleyhill bastle (Allendale)

Description
Behind the 19th century farmhouse is an older building, now in ruins. It seems to be 18th century in date but in the northern part there are traces of an older building, possibly a bastle, and to the north of this yet another ruined building that pre-dates the 18th century. The latter building has walls one metre thick and has a narrow vent, or opening, typical of bastle houses.... -
