    "Carved stone post by the A68, in parish of ROCHESTER (TYNEDALE District), South of church of Holy Trinity and North of Redesdale Arms PH, lying in a dip in verge on bend, on North side of road. Newcastle quadrant stone, erected by the Elsdon & Rudwater turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : Newcastle / 34 / Miles : : Jedbro / 22 / Miles : Grade II listed.
