    "Carved stone post by the A68, in parish of Rochester (Tynedale District), West of Whitelee, between Catcleugh Reservoir and Carter Bar, on the verge, on grass banking, on East side of road, near snow pole. Newcastle quadrant stone, erected by the Elsdon & Rudwater turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : Newcastle / 44 / Miles : : Jedbro / 12 / Miles : Grade II listed.
