Newlands shrunken medieval village (Shotley Low Quarter)
-
Description
A settlement at Newlands seems to have originated in the 13th century and lay in the manor of Whittonstall. The settlement is recorded in a number of documents from the 13th to 19th centuries. Today there are two farmsteads and a few houses but no earthworks of the medieval settlement are known..... -
