Former Alnwick Railway Station (Barter Books)

  • Description

"This station, designed by William Bell and opened in 1887, replaced the first 1850-built Alnwick Station which was located closer to the edge of the town. The former station is now occupied by Barter Books, which has since its inception in 1991 acquired near-iconic status. The New Statesman once described the bookshop as, "the British Library of second hand bookshops"." Photo by Geoff Holland, 2021.
