Lionheart Station, Aln Valley Railway

  • Description

"In the time since the closure of the railway between Alnmouth and Alnwick, the construction of the dual carriageway A1 road has made it prohibitively expensive for the preservation movement to return the railway to the original town centre station due to the cost it would incur to bridge the road. A new station has been built to the East of the A1, seen here as a former industrial tank engine prepares to take a train down the new incline to the old trackbed. The railway aims to eventually relay the line to Alnmouth station and run heritage trains." Photo by David Robinson, 2018.
