    Jesmond Old Cemetery Tomb of architect Thomas Oliver (1791-1857) Thomas Oliver Snr was born in Crail in the Scottish Borders on 14th January 1791 he died in Newcastle in December 1857. Architect and surveyor; married to Elizabeth Best Oliver (1800 - 1886) their son Charles William Oliver (1847 - 1855) Father of "Thomas Oliver, died 1902, an architect in the partnership of Oliver, Leeson and Wood. One of the last projects he worked on was the Sun Insurance building on the corner of Collingwood Street. Edwardian baroque eccentricity! The practice was also responsible for the building next to St Nicholas Cathedral with the vampire rabbit over the door."
