Look Wide Camp Site
-
Description
"This place isn't marked as "Look Wide" on the OS maps but as Carr Edge. The cairn marks the site of the first official Boy Scout Camp. A commonly held misconception is that the first Scout camp was on Brownsea Island, Poole Harbour, Dorset but this was actually an experimental camp held by Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement; the first Scout camp was actually in Northumberland."
