Walwick Grange has a fine view of paddlers playing on the Tyne Tour

  • Description

"There are a few playwaves on this stretch of the North Tyne, and this seems to one of the more popular ones, having excellent eddy service river left. A large group had just passed on down the river, so we got a chance to have it to ourselves for a few minutes, but the Tyne Tour, held over the weekend of the first Friday on November each year, is not the time to expect the rivers to be uncrowded, and the North Tyne from Barrasford to Hexham is probably the most-run outing. If the residents of Walwick Grange have any interest in watching canoeists, this is the ideal time for it, as a succession of groups pass down the river all day, all weekend, most stopping to play here."
