THREEPWOOD HALL - Haydon - List Entry

    Country House. Late C17 remodelling of earlier fabric altered late Cl8. Rubble, partly rendered, with stone dressings. Slate roof, ashlar stepped stack on left gable, right gable stack rendered. Late C17 T-plan house enlarged to a rectangular block in late C18. Late C18 ballroom wing is also a remodelling of earlier fabric. 3 storeys, 5 windows, symmetrical. Central door in raised and chamfered stone surround.....closed-string, open-well stair of c.1690 rising through 3 storeys in short flights. Moulded string, turned balusters (flat splats on top landing), square newels with pendants, wide handrail with arched top. Ballroom has C18 enriched modillioned eaves cornice and plaster eagle in centre of ceiling; C18 panelled shutters....
