Dissenters' mortuary chapel

  • Description

"One of two chapels provided when the cemetery opened in 1855, similar in style to [[902682]]. This one was on unconsecrated ground, for use by Catholics, Quakers, Methodists etc.. It is not currently in use. In the upper window a barn owl box has been placed, as wildlife conservation is a policy of the cemetery's management. Information taken from leaflet "Carlisle Cemetery, a walker's guide", Carlisle City Council." Photo by Rose and Trev Clough, 2008.
