Old Milepost by the A6 west of Thrimby

    "Cast iron post by the A6, in parish of THRIMBY (EDEN District), opposite entrance to Thrimby Cottages, on grass verge against fence, on East side of road. Winder iron casting, erected by the Heronsyke & Eamont Bridge turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : SHAP / 4 / MILES : : 1825 : : PENRITH / 6½ / MILES : : T.WINDER /GATEBECK / FOUNDRY : (This small photo was the last one taken of the milepost before it was allegedly stolen between February and May 2018) Listed.
