Emporer's Lodge

  • Description

"Autumnal aerial view of the two gatehouses, Emporer's Lodge, at the southern entrance to the Lowther Estate. The A6 runs in front of the lodge and the M6 runs behind (just visible through the trees). The construction of the M6 motorway in the late 60's truncated Emperor's Drive, which previously ran from the lodge all the way through to Lowther Castle." Photo by Peter McDermott, 2024.
