Sign for the Cross Keys
-
Description
"Prior to the Reformation this was a very common inn sign, for it was the emblem of St Peter. When Henry VIII broke with Rome a number of signs changed to the King's Head. Later the keys had a significance when watchmen kept guard throughout the night on behalf of the community." Photo by Maigheach-gheal, 2010. -
