Old milestone

    "Westwards on the A684 from the railway viaduct on the Settle - Carlisle line used to be in the West Riding. From 1974 it has been part of Cumbria. 8 out of 9 milestones that were set up in 1893/94 for the WRCC are still in place. This one is on the southeast side of the road, near a house with no name and west of the eastern lane into Grisdale. Under the rust, SEDBERGH/9 MILES on the left face. HAWES/7 MILES on the right.
