    "Metal plate attached to stone post by the A684, in parish of GARSDALE (SOUTH LAKELAND District), East of lane to Grimsdale; 5m East of Scar Foot Bridge, on the verge, back to stone wall, on South side of road. Sedburgh 'V' iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century. Inscription reads:- : SEDBERGH / 8 MILES : : SEDBERGH & HAWES / ROAD / GARSDALE : : HAWES / 8 MILES : Grade II listed.
