Old Milestone by the A684, Hawes Road, Garsdale Parish

    "Metal plate attached to stone post by the A684, in parish of GARSDALE (SOUTH LAKELAND District), Hawes Road, near bend at Thursgill; 75m West of Kirk Bridge over Clough River, Smorthwaite, on the verge, back to stone wall, on South side of road. Sedburgh V iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : SEDBERGH / 6 MILES : : SEDBERGH & HAWES / ROAD / GARSDALE / : : HAWES / 10 MILES : Carved benchmark on top edge. Grade Listed.
