Old milestone

  • Description

"It is 20 years since this West Riding CC milestone was first recorded for the Milestone Society. And it was painted white with black lettering. On the original 1893/94 contract the attachments were to be painted blue with white lettering. Occasionally, remnants of blue paint can be seen on an attachment such as this one that has lost most of its white paint. The milestone is just east of the eastern lane into Millthrop. There is a pin and a cut benchmark on the top of the stone. Grade II listed 1384134." Photo by Chris Minto, 2024.
