Ruins of the Banqueting Hall at Jesmond Dene

  • Description

"Built in 1860-62 to a design by John Dobson for lord William Armstrong. Given to the city of Newcastle by Lord Armstrong in 1883 along with the rest of the Jesmond Dene estate. Unfortunately, it was allowed to fall into ruin in the 1970's. Proposals have been made to restore it, but nothing has been finalised as of 2024." Photo by Robert Graham, 2024.
