Banqueting Hall, Jesmond Dene

  • Description

"This hall was built in 1860-62 to a design by John Dobson for Lord Armstrong who used it to entertain clients of his armaments business. Extended in 1869 by R N Shaw, including the gatehouse, which is what this building is. The actual hall is behind and lower down the hillside. It is now a ruin, but the gatehouse is still intact although not used at present." Photo by Robert Graham, 2024.
