    The S. S. William Stephenson was built in 1906 1,540 tons gross 2220 Ind H P Built by Palmers Shipbuilding and Iron Company at Yarrow. Employed mainly on continental services from the River Tyne but also occasionally on the London service. She struck a mine on 29 August 1915, causing the death of 2 crew members. The vessel was towed to Great Yarmouth roads where she later sank.
