Description
"Whilst this fine two-span stone bridge bears an inscription indicating that it was built circa 1700, it was in fact completed in 1768 at a cost of £134. It was built by William Johnson (1730-1807) stonemason & bridge surveyor each span measuring 20 feet with a width of 10 feet (source: `A Biographical Dictionary of Civil Engineers in Great Britain & Ireland` Ed. Skempton). It was once an important crossing of the Seaton Burn on the ancient route between Tynemouth & Morpeth.
