St. Mary's Catholic Church and presbytery

  • Description

"On land with barely a contour for a kilometre at a time, the site chosen for this church manages to create the impression of being on a hilltop, as the road slopes gently down on both sides of the entrance. Although prominently signed as the catholic church of Wycliffe, it is a considerable distance away from the village (more than a kilometre as the crow flies) and rather nearer to Hutton Magna. The buildings of the presbytery are quite extensive, and would certainly be more than needed as the residence of a single priest." Photo by Andy Waddington, 2010.
