"Wardell Armstrong Archaeology were commissioned to undertake an archaeological watching brief on land at Cunsey Beck near Ambleside, Cumbria. This work follows a planning application (Planning Ref. 7/2011/5477) for the installation of new hydro electric plant, intake, buried water pipe and turbine house. The work is required as the site lies within the grounds of Cunsey Mill, which is a Grade II Listed Building (English Heritage Building ID: 76876; Site 1). The former mill comprises an 1890 water-driven sawmill and coppice barn, which replaced an older bobbin mill that burned down in 1888...."
