Description
....This massive memorial has vanished without trace.....The Recreation Ground was sold for development, and it is possible that part of it has become part of Harton Cemetery. The ground was sold in 1925 to the Y.M.C.A. after the Smith's Dock Co. had removed their works to North Shields....Rumour has it that the blocks were cut up and discarded....
