Buildings in Strand Road, shortly before redevelopment

  • Description

"All of the buildings belong to Carlisle College. Centre left is Swifts Mews, with part of the former Drill Hall (latterly a sports centre) to the right. Since this picture was taken, the mews and most of the old sports centre have been demolished. The College has built a new Digital and Creative Arts Centre on the site, due to open autumn 2014. The Drill Hall facade has been retained and incorporated into the new building (see [[4158681]] ). More views of these buildings here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4158595 and http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4158621 . Further left along the street is [[4158576]] ."
