    "Formerly the A595 and also the Newtown route of the City of Carlisle Electric Tramway until closure in November 1931, Castle Street is now partly pedestrianised. It is the route of The Cumbria Way from Ulverston to Carlisle which ends at the Carlisle Cross and Town Hall in the city centre (next photograph [[7604284]]).
