"Archibald Campbell Tait was Dean of Carlisle Cathedral from 1849-1856. Tragedy struck the Dean and his wife Catharine in the spring of 1856, when five of their daughters contracted scarlet fever and died in the space of 5 weeks. Their ages ranged from 1 to 10 years.
