    "Carved stone post by the B5284, in parish of STRICKLAND KETEL (SOUTH LAKELAND District), Crook Road, 10m East of junction with Ratherheath Lane, in the garden of Chain House, on North side of road. Kendal Lakeside stone, erected by the Ambleside turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : KENDAL / 3 MILES : : BOWNESS / 5¾ MILES : Carved benchmark on South face.
