Dacre Hall - Lanercost Village Hall
-
Description
Website of Dacre Hall. "Dacre Hall is reputed to be the oldest village hall in England and forms part of the 12th Century Lanercost Priory, set in the beautiful Irthing valley, just 2 miles from Brampton and Hadrian’s Wall. .... Dacre Hall has some of the most important surviving examples of mid-sixteenth- century wall painting, albeit only traces in part and the hall itself is part of what was originally a single long room where the Dacre family would have entertained in style. It boasts a large banquet style room with superbly restored roof beams and a new lighting system which can be adjusted to suit the varied uses of the hall. The main room also has a stage which can be used for productions. The separate supper room has new kitchen facilities and plenty of room for the serving of refreshments....." -
