Things to do in the Lake District: Stott Park Bobbin Mill

  • Description

STOTT PARK BOBBIN MILL Once Stott Park Bobbin Mill was one of many mills in the Lake District that supplied millions of bobbins to the factories of Lancashire and Yorkshire. Now it's unique. It's the only place in the UK - and possibly in the world - where you can see how wooden bobbins were made. And it's done just as the men would have done in the mill's Victorian heyday. Every day that the site is open, the site team run guided tours where they turn on all the machines and make a bobbin as you explore the site. On the first weekend of the month (and Bank Holidays) they also fire up the boiler and get the steam engine working. Find out more about visiting Stott Park Bobbin Mill here: https://goo.gl/pDsysm
