    "Cast iron post by the B6524, in parish of Whalton (Castle Morpeth District), 100m East of Whiteside North, on grass verge, on East side of road. Patterson twin ovals arrowed iron post, erected by the Ponteland turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : MORPETH / {<-arrow} 6¼ / MILES : : BELSAY / 3 {arrow->} / MILES : Maker:- : SMITH PATTERSON / BLAYDON : Grade II listed.
