Farmhouse at Newlands Grange

  • Description

"This large farm in the countryside west of Shotley Bridge has an interesting origin. The land here was part of Newlands Common until 1808 when it was all enclosed by a parliamentary bill. This section was awarded to Greenwich Hospital, which owned the Newland Estate. In the 1840's, the farm here was established. initially called West Newlands. The estate has since been broken up and sold off as individual farms." Photo by Robert Graham, 2017.
