AUGILL CASTLE - List Entry

    "Large house in castellated Gothick style, started 1841 for John Pearson. Coursed rubble with projecting embattled parapet. Graduated slate roofs with stone mid-chimneys. 2 storeys, 13 bays overall. Original symmetrical front 4:1:4 with turrets to corners and flanking porch. Door has pointed head; pointed 3-light traceried window above. Ground floor windows transomed, 1st floor windows have inner pointed heads to lights. Square stair tower to centre rear. Interior has re-used late C17 panelling (variously dated) to entrance hall; ornate fireplace has cusped panelling...."
