    "Gatepiers with flanking walls, railings and end pier with sundial. 1720 possibly re-set, for the Howards of Redesdale. Tall, rusticated corniced piers with the Howard crest set in foliage trails below the friezes. Friezes each have a wild-man mask flanked by rosettes. Large urns with festoons, swags and heads, capped by pineapple finials. On the inner face of each pier the date MDCCXX in a moulded panel. Flanked by short walls c.3ft high with corniced coping and simple spiked railings....."
