Description
"Built c 1900 for Lockhart's Cocoa Rooms. Robet Lockhart first introduced his Cocoa Rooms in Liverpool in 1876, as an alternative to public houses for refreshment. Although the three bays on the first floor are quite plain, above it there are various animated festive shapes and scrolls in stone gathered in an asymmetrical composition to celebrate the pleasures of Mr Lockhart's beverage. "L & Co" is carved on the ornamental shield below the bowl finial [[4500542]]. The building is not listed. The Buildings of Grainger Town - No.178. See [[4406042]]." Photo by Mike Quinn, 2013. -
