Buildings and monument on Commercial Street

  • Description

"The A689 is known as Commercial Street as it passes through the centre of Willington. The terrace on the north side of the road is a mixture of housing and shops. The monument or memorial is dedicated to George Burdon McKean who was born in Willington in 1888. He was one of 71 Canadians, (he obviously emigrated), to be awarded the VC in The Great War."
