    "Medieval cross shaft and base. C14 or C15. Sandstone. Large square base c.2 ft high with tapering octagonal shaft c.8 ft. high. The shaft has an oblong base c. 9 x 15 inches, and broach stops at the corners. Formerly the village cross of Old Belsay Village which was moved by Sir Charles Monck in the 1830's....."
