Chronicle Live 13th Nov 2019. "....Living and working in 18th century Newcastle, Anne Fisher was a woman who was never lost for words. She opened a school for girls in 1745 and at the age of 26, wrote a book titled New Grammar, which became invaluable – running to more than 40 editions – as part of a process of a growing standardisation of how English was written....Her book was repeatedly republished in London and advertised in the capital’s newspapers. In 1764, Anne and her printer husband Thomas Slack also started a newspaper called the Newcastle Chronicle (not to be confused with the one we know today)....." -
