Stainton Aqueduct flood damage
-
Description
"Stainton Aqueduct carries the Lancaster Canal over Stainton Beck and a public footpath. It is a Grade II Listed Building. See https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1086532 It was severely damaged by floodwater in December 2015 (Storm Desmond). On the downstream side, the abutment walls were undermined, causing collapse, and the footway was washed away." Photo by Ian Taylor, 2016. -
