Former National Provincial Bank, Mosley Street, Newcastle

  • Description

"The company's architect, John Gibson, produced a very urbane four-square building which oozes wealth, status and solidity. Excellently disposed and refined detail (http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4647211). Running along the frieze on both main fronts is the name of the bank and its founding date. Dated 1870-72. Grade II listed. At the time occupied by a restaurant, the Lodge, which I understand has since closed." Photo by Stephen Richards, 2012.
